As reported by SIC Notícias, on the International Day Against Violence and Bullying at School, including Cyberbullying, celebrated on 7 November 2024, Portugal reinforced the need to act to prevent and combat bullying in schools. The phrase “Act When You See, Speak When You Can, Change When You Fail” became the slogan of this awareness movement.
The message highlights the importance of teachers, parents, and students actively intervening to create safer and more inclusive school environments. It also emphasises the need to foster empathy, mutual respect, and collective responsibility in building a school culture free from violence. This call to action aims to mobilise the entire school community to transform schools into spaces of peaceful coexistence and respect for differences.
To raise awareness of this pressing issue, the Directorate-General for Schools, the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service, and the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Young People released a video with a powerful anti-bullying message.
