As reported by SIC Notícias on 3 October 2024, Portuguese footballer Rúben Dias has become a patron of a leading anti-bullying organisation in the United Kingdom. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this cause. As athletes, we have a platform to inspire and uplift,” says Dias, who will soon address the UK Parliament.
This leadership mission, much like his role at his English club and within the Portuguese national team, is one that Rúben Dias embraces with “responsibility” and “enthusiasm”:
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this cause. As athletes, we have a platform to inspire and uplift, and it’s our responsibility to use it to combat bullying in all its forms. Together, we can show young people that kindness and respect are the true signs of strength and the real path to success,” says the 27-year-old player.
As the organisation’s patron, Rúben Dias will address the UK Parliament on 11 November during an event for Anti-Bullying Week.
