School Coexistence Observatory launched

As reported by CNN Portugal and Jornal de Notícias (22/03/2024), the creation of the Observatory of School Coexistence was spearheaded by the National Federation of Education (FNE) in partnership with the National Confederation of Parents’ Associations (CONFAP), the National Association of Directors of Groups and Public Schools (ANDAEP), the Association for Training and Research in Education and Work (AFIET), the Order of Portuguese Psychologists, and the Institute for Child Care (IAC).

The School Coexistence Observatory aims to monitor incidents of indiscipline and violence within schools, recognizing that many such occurrences often remain confined within the classroom or school premises. Initially slated for the school year 2024/2025, a platform will be established to facilitate reporting of incidents that occur within schools. Additionally, the Observatory will undertake research and organize initiatives aimed at fostering positive coexistence within schools. It will also spearhead national campaigns to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of violence and indiscipline on educational institutions.
